The new directory from Portugalimestones.com dedicated to the Portuguese Traditional Flooring is already available. The Portuguese Traditional Flooring directory is part of Portugalimestones.com strategy of giving more visibility to the Portuguese natural stone companies and in particular, to the companies dedicated to the exploration and transformation of Portuguese limestones.

The 3rd quarter of 2009 will not have many natural stone fairs in the agenda. This is considered the low season in terms of fairs. In July there are no natural stone fairs in the international agenda, however in August there will be two fairs and in September another two fairs.
Some of the most relevant fairs during this period are the Cachoeiro, that will take place in Brazil, as well as Marmomacc that will take place in Italy. The latter is still considered by many as one of the most important natural stone fairs in the World. We present below these quarter´s fairs:

The new Moca Cream quarry has been opened! The quarry belongs to the company Marcelo e Nogueira and started extracting this limestone on September 2008. The quarry is located in the area of Pé da Pedreira, the main extraction area of Moca Cream limestone. The quarry has a total area of 30.000 m2 and counts with three full-time employees at present.
The prospection phase has already finished and the quarry already extracts some high quality Moca Cream limestone that can be commercialized.

The second quarter of 2009 will have less natural stone fairs, if compared with the first quarter. However, the reduced number of fairs does not mean reduced possibilities of business, as in this quarter there will be some fairs with a large dimension, such as the case of Coverings in USA, Stone+Tech in Germany, as well as several fairs in emerging economies as Poland or Russia. The National Stone Fair that took place in Batalha – Portugal between 12-15 March has finished. This fair had the participation of several exhibitors in the natural stone area, from extracting companies, transformation and finishing companies, transport and logistics, machines and equipments, funerary articles, magazines, associations and organizations, among others.
On the 12th and 13th of March (thursday and friday) the fair had few visitors. This was not a problem for the companies exhibiting here, that used these two days to make business among themselves as well as debate, interact and exchange some ideas about the actual situation of the natural stone industry in Portugal. These two days also coincided with the II National Congress of Natural Stone, which had the participation of several personalities from the natural stone area in Portugal. This is a very interesting initiative that aims at stimulating the debate over several subjects around the natural stone in Portugal.

The Exposalao Batalha Stone Fair will happen between the 12th and 15th March 2009, in Batalha – Portugal.
As the Stone Fair is the only event dedicated exclusively to this subject, this is an unique opportunity for professionals from the stone sector to get in touch with the latest news in terms of equipment, technology and finished product.
There will be around 130 exhibitors in EXPOSALAO, that during four days, will present the most recent news in terms of Technology, Machines and Equipments for the Extraction and Transformation Industries, Accessories and Tools, as well as the Software used in this sector. There will also be patents of the different Types of Ornamental Stones existing in the market, in its different forms of presentation: rough blocks, sawned slabs and finished product, as is the case with the paving, coverings, stonework, fireplaces and even decorative items in natural stone.
