Ataija Azul

DESCRIPTION

The Ataija Azul is a blue / grey colored limestone, with thin grain and uniform background. It presents some occasional lighter and darker areas, dark blue spots, as well as some occasional well defined dark blue vein. This is one of the main variations of this limestone stone, which also presents a beige colored variation.

This is one of the hardest limestone that are extracted in Portugal. It is also one of the few grey colored limestones in Portugal, which makes it quite a demanded limestone.

Compression strength: 1650 kg/cm2; Bending strength: 105 kg/cm2; Porosity: 0.9%; Water absorption: 0.4%

RECOMMENDED APPLICATIONS

Due to its considerable hardness and limited size of most blocks (these present several natural fissures), the Ataija Azul is mostly used on exterior street paving with considerable thickness but small dimensions. This is also a preferential limestone to be used on diverse landscaping, some cladding, flooring and decoration.
